Gilbert Arenas was scoring a lot

Gilbert ArenasRehashing December, because we weren’t there…

To respeak the truth above, Gilbert Arenas was scoring a lot in December, including putting 60 on the Lakers.

That said, he wasn’t the only one – Kobe put up a couple 50+ games, and Jason Kapono did a 27 on someone for the Miami Heat. Dwyane Wade also gave the Lakers 40 (or something) on Christmas Day.

It really comes back to Gilbert though, and for two reasons.

Reason the first – it was totally overshadowed by the aforementioned NY-DEN fight. Reason the second – he did it to Kobe in Los Angeles, and Kobe followed that up with the most ironic statement of the past 11 NBA seasons – he called Gilbert a chucker. (There’s a 90% chance that the use of the word “ironic” is incorrect in the previous sentence.)

Arenas responded on his must-read, super-hot blog on NBA.com.

For the best player in the league to downplay what I did … I guess, I don’t know. I give him all the respect in the world. He is the No. 1 player in the league, by far. It’s like that. You don’t need to try to shadow box my 60. It was one of them nights when I was clicking and everything was going in so, I ended up having 60. That’s all there is to it.

That’s great, how he’s all like kinda humble and stuff, like he doesn’t want to insult Kobe.

In this particular case, however, he should have. He should’ve been all like, “Hey man, sometimes you take bad shots, too. Just not this month. Sorry about trying to talk trash, Kobe. It wasn’t warranted and I apologize. Let’s have lunch.”

(As we wrote that, we remembered that the Lamar Odom-less Lakers are coming out of December with a nice record. Kobe’s got it all figured out.)

By the way, it’s still Saturday and we’re still watching movies. Right now The Aviator is on, with the popular American motion picture star Leonardo Dicaprio. Did you know this was based on a true story? Did you know he has a moustache for part of it? Did you know that Alan Alda is based on a true story?

Because we’re into multi-tasking, we’re also reloading a bunch of Who Shot Mamba? footage onto a different hard drive. If you want to see what it looks like, you should come over…which you can’t do, because it’s Saturday, and if you came over, the reload is already done.

Plus, we’re probably not watching movies anymore, except that when you’re reading this it’s New Year’s Day, when we probably are watching movies again. Unless we happen to still be all whacked out from last night, in which case we’re probably trying to watch movies but can’t figure out the DVD player.

NOTE: NBA.com is going technology crazy, and has player widgets you can put here, there and everywhere. As seen below:

You may think there’s a joke in there somewhere, but there’s not. It’s just technology being passed around, and further commentary on the misuse of the word ironic. We’re not grammatical masters by any means, but we’re like so sure it’s almost never used correctly anymore.
