Ron Artest is in Detroit

by The Cavalier on January 20, 2007 · 12 comments

While ruminating on AK47 getting scolded by the Jazz owner and the Cavaliers playing like a bunch of pathetic lazy people, we turn our special Saturday attention to Ron Artest and the Sacramento Kings visiting the Pistons in Detroit this evening.

Believe it or not, this is the first time Ron has been back to the Palace since the brawl 2 years (!) ago when was with the Pacers.

In preparation for the event, the Kings beat the Celtics last night, and Ron went and got Mike Bibby to give him a mohawk. (Yeah, you thought that was Photoshop for a sec, huh?)

Ron has stated that he doesn’t think anything bad will happen tonight, and that the whole thing where someone throws a beer at him is a “once in a lifetime” thing.

(As someone who’s had beer thrown at them and done the beer throwing at others multiple times, we know that this is false. Regardless, we press on.)

You have to admire Artest for his marketing savvy. He well knows a slick Bibby-shorn mohawk will do nothing but draw more attention and ire from the Deeeee-troit Basssssket-balllll crowd.

Are we rooting for something to happen?

Well, as you know from our recap of the DEN-NYK fight, that answer is ‘yes’.

Do we actually think something will happen?

Tough question. The Pistons had a small skirmish last night in the win over MIN, so they could either be extra fired up or on their best behavior. Considering the presence of Sheed, once never knows.

Too many factors – the safest bet is to set the Tivo, and be prepared to switch over as the Cavaliers sleepwalk through the game against the Warriors, then make statements about “figuring it out” afterward.

(We realize these two games are not on at the same time, but in order for the post to work, we had to create a flase scenario in which they are. Hopefully, only the slickest of readers and schedule memorizers will pick up on this lil’ scam.)

I wish that Detroit game last night would have gone to 6 overtimes. It would have been more entertaining than watching the Cavaliers game… well until LeBron got his foot caught under one of his own teammates…that brought a smile to my face.

I think Damon Jones should get a technical foul everytime he hits a 3 pointer when they’re losing and he makes his little “3″ hand signal… like anyone cares that he hit a 3 when they’re down by 12.

The Ron Artest Interactive Fan Experience is finally making its grand return to Auburn Hills. What a night this can be.

Sacramento is the most talented basketball team to be terrible in recent memory.

I’m just playing around, I’m not saying Cavs suck to degrade them. Cavs are prolly coasting it out Miami-Style. As far as Nets are concerned, we’d be #1 in the ECF or even the league if our roster wasnt so banged up. we we were a bench away from going further in the playoffs last year, too bad everything is just going south.

if only Artest wasnt such a headcase.

I doubt the Nets would be #1 in the east if they were healthy. That’s actually not a fair statement to make really, when you consider that Richard Jefferson suffers annually from swollen vagina about 15 games into the season..

The Nets are never healthy, and I’m actually glad that Jason Kidd is not on a better team… the less I see him kiss the air at the free thrown line, the better.

Its just been unfortunate for the Nets this season, it was so promising, now we could be rebuilding. Nets just were one of the lucky teams last year with injuries, nothing major that shut players down. We couldnt even get the season off to a good start missing 2 players who were supposed to be the big bench guys.

Everyone enjoy the Richard Jefferson ankle surgery! Richard, here is a cake…it says “See you in March.” Please do not throw it at me.
