WHO SHOT MAMBA IPHONE

Stephon Marbury is a talk show host

We mentioned this off-hand awhile back, but never gave it another thought because the possibility of it coming to fruition was zero%.

However, zero suddenly became one hundred, and Stephon Marbury has had his own talk show picked up for distribution.

The opus is called Stars On Stars, and despite being able to twist that to sound like it’s a porn-style talk show, we’re not going to.

Thirteen half-hour episodes will flow through the sweet, sweet cable and satellite lines to FOX SportsNet stations, possibly beginning in March.

“I just felt it would allow people to see my personality beyond the perception that’s written about basketball. People say I’m selfish. The numbers don’t show I’m selfish. I’ve never gotten a chance to defend myself as far as me as a person. So people have driven me to come up with an outlet of expression. I thought it would be a lot of fun.

“It’s not a sports show as much as a lifestyle show,” Marbury added. “Hopefully I can show a different side of other people and a different side of me. It’s a conversation between two people who happen to be stars, talking about our experiences growing up and as far as everyday life.”

Well, it’s about time Steph lets us see the real him, because every version of the fake him since he’s entered the NBA can best be described as “miserable and angsty”.

We’re hopeful that this will be everything we want it to be, ie Stephon says, “Hey guest, look at my huge diamond-encrusted watch. Do you have a huge diamond-encrusted watch?”

And then the interviewee is like, “Yeah, here’s my huge diamond-encrusted watch. It’s huge. Also encrusted with diamonds.”

Then they just sit there and stare for awhile, when Steph blurts out, “I have mine set to Eastern Standard Time. I can dribble good.”

Afterward, he pouts to the media about how his producer lined up a lousy guest, and he wants to be traded to Best Damn Sports Show. Before that happens, though – would it be asking too much to get Larry Brown as a guest? That’s guaranteed ratings, isn’t it?

(There are snippets of his pre-interview prep over on Kobe’s website, if you’re curious. It’s extremely uninteresting, but we feel we must inform.)

I was just beginning to believe in God when I heard Stephen A. Smith’s show was cancelled today….and then this happened.

Is it too much to hope for to one day see an episode where Stephon sets up a mirror and interviews himself in the person of Starbury?

Holy shit, I’d watch that.

Jack Cobra, funny you would mention that, because this has singlehandly renewed my faith in a God who likes to humble fools. Personally, I think God came out ahead in the switch, but then I’m biased. :-p

I think this is a great thing to happen for Stephon & all New York Nicks fans as well. I can’t wait to get mt hands on his new shoes. I think they release April 1st. I will be at our local “Steve & Barry’s” store bright and early that day to get me a few pairs. I hope this show does well and is continued longer than the 13 sceduled shows.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to post my last thoughts twice. I would also like to share these websites with everyone http://www.starbury.com and http://www.steveandbarrys.com check them out if you like Stephon Marbury or the New York Nicks. Heck, check them out even if you don’t. These sites are links to great apparell for everyone. Stephon now has a new clothing line to go with his shoes. I heard “Steve & Barry’s” next celebrity clothing line is going to be from Sarah Jessicca Parker. This store just keeps getting better.

I would actually allow the people to bash Steph but its getting ridiculous. Leave the guy alone. He put out a shoe to help the people. He got a bad rep throughout his career (ok, getting out of Minnesota I’ll be the first to say is the wrong way to start off an NBA campaign {Garnett would have a ring by now}). But one thing you must admit: for the people that say “everytime he leaves a team the team becomes incredibly better” look at the rosters (and the IR report) while he’s there and after he leaves. The guy is consistant (20 and 8 career average). He is now attempting to rectify his image by allowing the people to get somewhat personal with him and you have people shutting him down before even seeing the show. The show is going to do well along with his clothing line. Point blank period.
