Steve Francis has an ouchy

One of the emerging mini-dramas in the larger New York Knicks epic-drama is the condition of Steve Francis’s chronically sore knee.

What he’s got is tendinitis, which more or less 80% of the NBA probably has to some extent.

He’s been rehabbing on an ongoing basis, getting a couple minutes of game time here and there, but he’s now left the team to go rehab in Houston.

How long he’ll be there is anyone’s guess, but we’re guessing mid-April and/or forever. Steve says no way – his future is in NYC. Note the supreme confidence in his statements.

“Never will it ever go away without months and months of rest,” said Francis, who already has missed 12 games this season. “But I don’t really foresee it hampering my career or anything like that. Hopefully, if I get some rest and get it better, I’ll be OK.”

When asked on Sunday if he believes his future is in New York, Francis said, “Yeah, definitely. I definitely feel that.”

It’s pretty much common knowledge here in the US that if you say “definitely” twice in the same sentence, it’s equivalent to a double negative.

Speculation is Steve could either retire or be bought out at some point, as he clearly doesn’t want the team, and vice versa.

It’s really a shame, since just about everyone was positive this whole thing was gonna work out, with the Marbury, the Knicks, and the Francis, and the NYC, and the one basketball on the floor at a time rule.

As for the Knicks, they’re 13-20, in the middle of a Western road trip, and…only 1 game out of first in the Atlantic Division. Wow.

Also garnering a ‘wow’ is Steve’s use of the phrase “never will it ever go away”, as in “never will I ever forget you, my dearest love”.
