The Celtics are losing

While we moan about, cry over, and protest the Cavaliers, we can’t help but think perhaps we over-react - maybe LeBron really is just waiting until March to turn things on.
(That’s still unforgivable, but we don’t hold grudges - if that’s the case, we’ll roll with it.)
Anyway, what cause this thought was the notice we took this morning that the Boston Celtics, with their loss to the Wizards last night, have now dropped eleven (11) games in a row.
It’s not often we feel sympathy for any Boston sports fan, and we don’t at this time, either. As a basketball fan we’re able to muster some kind of something for the fans of any franchise suffering so badly.
Despite these dire times, team owner Wyc Grousbeck remains positive, and reiterates his positive feelings by actually using the word positive.
“I’m hearing more positive stuff (from fans) now than I was a year ago at this time,” Grousbeck said late last week from his office on Causeway Street. “I don’t want anybody to think that I think everything is rosy. We have a losing record and it’s been a difficult year, but I think that people see the potential of these kids and things will be better in years to come.”
“I think Plan A is to keep this group of players together and pay them along the way. That’s Plan A,” said Grousbeck. “If an opportunity arises to acquire a veteran, we’ve always looked at that in the past and we’ll continue to look at it. The nice thing is that we can go one way or the other. A couple of years ago, we couldn’t go either way.”
Wyc, we’re not sure why you’re going to pay a bunch of dudes who give you eleven straight Ls, but that’s really up to you. (We’re also not sure why you’re not allowing Coach Doc to move back to the broadcast booth like he clearly wants to.)
What we’re really wondering here, Wyc, is what a “Wyc” is. We’ve always just sort of read your name in the past without ever noticing it’s really quite odd.
A little research shows that your name is actually short for the Whitby Yacht Club, which explains everything.
GET OFF YOUR BOAT and FIRE YOUR GM.
His brain-typing madness has gone on long enough - you may think it’s cute to have a nice shot at Greg Oden and/or Kevin Durant in the draft, but don’t you think it’s a little too coincidental that this is all happening 10 years after you missed out on Tim Duncan?
It’s gonna happen again - someone like the Warriors or Kings are gonna slip in there, just like what happened with the Spurs. Then Danny will try to make up for it by signing Greg Foster or (gasp) Darko, and you can go sit on your Yacht drinking strawberry fruit alcohol drinks (too lazy to look up how to spell daiquiri) while the New England area moans and wails.
(We spelled it right without even looking it up. God damn, we’re something special.)
