Boston fans don’t like us

by The Cavalier on February 16, 2007 · 18 comments

We were, in the past few minutes, made aware that some residents of the famed Celticsbog have decided to take it upon themselves to go on the attack in the comments section of a recent post we made about the BOS.

Anger flows deep in New England – note:

I just left a few notes (under two different names…yes it’s trolling, but I just got so heated that I couldnt hold myself back) for that tool over at yaysports. I recomend that y’all head over there and read what he had to say about PP, and you’ll probably do the same.

“That tool”? We have a name, mister, and that name is not “The Cavalier”. We’re startled, shocked, and mildly offended. At the same time, the effort it must take for someone from Boston to think up two different handles makes for an impressive feat. We commend you.

That said, it’s sad that the effort was wasted, since a quick, remedial look at the post in question reveals that no insult to PP was ever intended. In fact, we compelled the man to get out of town and go somewhere that he can win – for his sake. He’s a fine player. Read:

If you wanna be on a contender, it’s probably not happening in Boston. Maybe you’re just greasing the wheels ala Jermaine O’Neal, but we’d recommend getting a little more proactive pronto. Hell, you could be back home in LA leading the Clipper resurgence by Tuesday if you’d be a little less lazy.

This would require be more lazy on the court itself, but the confusion over being non-lazy to be lazy can all be summed up in one word: stop playing hard and complain a lot.

Now, analyze that and explain to us how that doesn’t not say twice that there’s un-hardwork happening or not happening. There’s the lazy part, which we said and unsaid TWICE. If you’re not confused, then maybe the love should be placed elsewhere, like with the Celtics.

We hate having to explain our own work multiple times to you people, but the writing is or is not on the wall, depending on which wall you are or are not maybe looking at.

As for Jeff at Celticsblog – while we appreciate your attempt to curb the potential trolling, we feel compelled to remind you that your legions ruined All-Star 1-on-1 last year for everyone, and that Paul Pierce is fat, or at the very least, he’s “doughy”.

I can’t believe you’re wasting time explaining your jokes when there are divorce filings to pick apart.

Becky,

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways… Hit me up on my two-way baby, I got plans for us.

They don’t call me Big O for no reason… keep that in mind.

Love ya,
Greg

This blog has become a lightning rod for controversy (and lightning!).

6 This Blog Stinks Anyway February 17, 2007 at 11:23 am

Who cares, this blog stinks anyway.

Yeah…. cause when people say that the best player on your team should leave because he will never win there, that isn’t worthy of a rebutle. What real fan of sports offers an athlete the advice of becoming a malcontent and intentionally sabotaging a team for the sake of gaining leverage in a potential trade? Thats just ridiculous and inflamatory.
Furthermore, your writing is nearly incomprehensible. My 6th grade sister has put together a better string of sentences than your posts. Just cause you have a blog doesn’t mean you know shit about fuck. You SHOULD be offended, this blog sucks, your ideas suck, and generally you don’t know what you are talking about in relation to the Boston Celtics.

““That tool”? We have a name, mister, and that name is not “The Cavalier”. ” if you’re going to say this a good follow up would be to include what that name might be…. just a little advice. Also maybe this: “Published by The Cavalier February 16th, 2007″ is what gave the impression that “the Cavalier” was the handle that you use. But obvioulsy thats just the Peter Parker to your Spiderman persona. God you must be so F’ing cool!

Pretty much, don’t spit into the wind, don’t tug on superman’s cape, and don’t mess with celtic fans. OK?

8 The Cavalier February 17, 2007 at 12:52 pm

True dat. I agree.

9 rogerl February 17, 2007 at 4:00 pm

Doesn’t your cape negate Superman’s cape?

MaineBleedsGreen,

“just because you have a blog doesn’t mean you know shit about fuck”… nice statement.

Let’s all take a deep breath here and relax for a minute. Why is recommending to Paul Pierce that he intentionally tank it so he can get traded a bad thing? Danny Ainge is quite possibly the worst GM in the history of the NBA (ok maybe not as bas as Isiah) and Doc Rivers is an overrated coach. Let’s be honest dude, the Celtics have been borderline terrible for a long time. Even though Pierce lead the Celts to a Eastern Conference Finals appearance, they would have been trounced in the Finals had they ever reached.

Most all of the teams that Pierce has played on have overachieved. He is a good player, but he is not “great”. He may be “tough” but I say he’s “injury prone”. He may play through “pain” but I say he’s “brittle”. Pierce is a good #2 guy to have around, it’s obvious he cannot lead your band of misfits even to the playoffs in a weakened Eastern Conference.

A basketball “fan” would want what’s best for possibly one of the league’s good guys and that is for the Celts to trade Paul Pierce.

Hey don’t shortchange Kevin McHale – he’s pretty terrible, too.

12 Boney February 17, 2007 at 4:24 pm

I’m going to give Kevin McHale a chance to be “good” and that will be when/if he trades Marko Jaric to the Cavs.

Jeff Clark is still called “Shit Party,” by some of his closest firends. We have sources, unnamed of course, willign to confirm this.

Wow…I guess I opened a can of worms with that one.

Boney, you think PP is injury prone? I beg you to go back and count the number of games that he missed before this season. Then check his career stats, and tell me again that he is “injury prone” or brittle.

I agree that he is a great #2 player, and not a #1. However, what swingman besides MJ ever was a legit #1? Kobe won with Shaq, can’t win now. D.Wade is good, but could he win without Shaq? Larry had Chief and Kev. I also agree that PP couldnt bring this team to the playoffs, but is it his fault that the team sucks…no, Ainge is a bad GM, Doc is an even worse coach, but whatever, Pierce is the fucking man.

16 Boney February 17, 2007 at 9:53 pm

I KNOW Pierce is injury prone. Just because he hasn’t missed many games doesn’t mean he isn’t constantly fighting some sort of “illness” or “injury” during the season. You know the type of illness I’m talking about, the one that isn’t quite enough to keep him from playing so he’s still able to put up his regular numbers while being “brave” for being able to play through such an illness.

I don’t need to check stats, I know what Paul Pierce is capable of “statistically”. I do also know that the great players can put their teams over the proverbial “hump”. It’s not Pierce’s fault the team sucks, but they weren’t winning BEFORE he got hurt.

I’m just glad that those highlights of Paul Pierce hitting a game winner and then “popping” his jersey to show that it says “Boston” on it are done. It doesn’t really mean anything that we know you’re from Boston during the regular season and then you’re not in the playoffs.

Paul Pierce = overrated. He’s a SF, he’s not a guy that can create his own shot. He’s not in the category of Kobe and DWade. Shit, I wouldn’t play him over Tayshaun or Rip Hamilton. Pierce is a Top 50 NBA player, maybe… and that’s not upper echelon.

17 bleedin February 18, 2007 at 2:35 am

Boney, you wouldn’t play pp over tayshaun prince? You’re retarded. You wouldn’t know talent if it bent over and took a shit on your face.

18 Boney February 18, 2007 at 5:50 pm

Bleedin

Just because Paul Pierce is the only scoring option on his team doesn’t mean he’s money. You put Pierce on the Pistons and he gets used on the defensive end, unlike Tayshaun. Tayshaun can fill it up with mid-teens on the offensive end and lock down other team’s SF, unlike Pierce.
