Kobe Bryant is in Los Angeles

Kobe Bryant

You may notice that the NBA has become somewhat web savvy this season, rolling out a bunch of widgets and such, to go along with their fake player blogs.

We’ve installed on such widget in the right sidebar – it’s that same schedule one that’s on NBA DOT COM.

Why do we mention this now? Because we just looked at it and noticed the Celtics are in town to play the Lakers tonight, in an epic battle of struggling struggleness.

The BOS struggles are legendary in terms of the 06-07 season, but it’s the Lakers who carry the more interesting burden right now. On top of losing six in a row, they’re also now dealing with the reality of not being able to get Jason Kidd via trade.

This was something everyone wanted, from fans to casual fans Jason Kidd to Kobe Bryant.

“I think everybody was looking forward to the possibility of Jason coming out here,” Kobe said. “Obviously, that would have been an amazing backcourt, but it didn’t happen, so we just move on from here.”

“I don’t think anybody’s wavered from the fact — at least I haven’t — from the fact we could make some serious noise in the playoffs with the roster that we have.”

We’d like to agree, but the outlook is quite shaky.

Remember, many people early on were of the opinion the Lakers’ great record was a result of like 30 of their first 20 games being at home. Even though some of those were without Kobe, and they’re had many an injury since, results are results.

Tonight should be revealing in that, to put it bluntly, the Celtics stink. A bad performance here is an indication that there’s bad performing going on.

As for Jason Kidd not making it back to California, our only thought is that there’s no team we’re so glad not to be a fan of as the Nets. “Running in place with the wind slowly pushing you backward” is how we’d describe them.

(For the record, we would’ve given up Bynum for Kidd. We’re not agreeing with those who say Kidd puts the Lakers into contention, but we are of the opinion that by the time Bynum is a force, Kobe is leaving his prime. Are you playing for Kobe or Andrew?)

You do have to admit Becky, that is a helluva workout

3 The Cavalier February 23, 2007 at 1:38 pm

It’s true though becky!

4 Lucas February 23, 2007 at 1:42 pm

I concur.

5 ZAKK February 23, 2007 at 1:48 pm

What must be an even tougher workout for becky is the incessant joyous dancing she has been doing since the trade deadline about all the blockbuster deals the Nets made.

Still typing in third person huh? Couple questions I have after watching last nights Cavs game:

1. Does LeBore ever take a good shot? I could just see him after games popping in Kobe and MJ tapes trying to master that atrocious looking fadeaway.

*LeBore to Damon Jones: “You see now that right there is the problem. I have to get the defender leaning at a 52 degree angle while I fade at a 45 degree angle.”
*Damon Jones: “Please stop.”

2. Does Larry Hughes average under 40 attempts a game? Ever?
3. Does the big ZERO ever plan on returning to the team?
4. Does Ben Wallace dominating the Cavs OFFENSIVELY in the fourth hurt your soul?
5. Will Damon Jones ever be worth even a fraction of what the Cavs shelled out for the no talent hack?
6. You would’ve given up Bynum for Kidd? Ha. Let’s see you got a 7 ft. 19 yr old kid who rebounds, defends, blocks (alters) shots, and really has become the second option of the team (Fuck Odom). Have you seen the kid play? Your delusional to think a guy past his prime and with no experience in running the triangle would benefit the Lakers this year OR next. Bynum is already a force dude. Oh it’s true, it’s damn true.

Bonus questions: Did The Cubanettes really get joy out of pounding a team with an out of shape Shaq and without The SICKNESS Dwayne Wade? Yeah, that was revenge for choking away the championship last year alright. Does watching Devon Harris look more puny and pale game by game have you thinking the guy really should be playing garbage time in the D league?

5) 2 plus 0 = sweep

I’m still not sure why everyone is in love with Kidd. He’s good, but obviously to get him the Lakers would have to give up too much, so they made the right move and didn’t do it.

BTW I like that NBA.com widget; I’m going to go see what else they have.

Fios

those we 2 blowout wins… I tell ya

2 plus 0 = regular season sweep
Regular season sweep = oh yeah, no rings..

Besides, Spurs have a better record than Cavs, last time I checked, that’s all that matters.

10 Tony Parker February 23, 2007 at 4:48 pm

Who is this “Fios” character? Seems to be on more often than even zack kay. That’s gotta be some sort of record. The way she came to Mr. Cav’s defense even before he could rebutt (ha), I’d bet it’s becky’s alter ego. Who hasn’t posterized Duncan? Kobe’s was better tho you should’ve looked for that one. Bitch.

11 Fios February 23, 2007 at 5:10 pm

Boney: I thought you were a Pistons fan?
Tony: The way you naively conflate a person (The Cavalier) with a team (the Cavaliers) is sweetly retarded. This is the third time you’ve said I am a woman and it’s still not funny. At least make this entertaining.

12 Tony Parker February 23, 2007 at 5:19 pm

^Really? I don’t recall ever typing anything about you. Seriously. But you still didn’t answer the question. Should I call you maam or sir? Do you call The Cavalier by his name, or do you prefer “Sugar Daddy?” Entertain yourself with a gallon of gasoline over your head and a match.

13 Fios February 23, 2007 at 6:14 pm

Call me whatever you like.
What do I do with the match?

14 Carlo February 23, 2007 at 7:18 pm

To answer the bonus question; If you bothered reading any story on the game you’d see they don’t see it as a revenge game without Wade. Also I remember a certain someone blowing by the Spurs defense on pretty much every possession in last years WCF. I might not be wrong. 4 game winning streak hu? Just one w away from tying the longest so far this season, right?

15 Tony Parker February 23, 2007 at 7:34 pm

^I don’t bother too much with The Cubanettes dude. I’m lazy like that. Who was that “blowing by the Spurs defense on pretty much every possesion”? I’m sure you’re not talking about The Ghost, right? I didn’t even know we were on a 4 game winning streak. Thanks for staying up to date on the Spurs for me. Now go back into obscurity.

16 The Cavalier February 23, 2007 at 7:39 pm

Tony I just realized I rarely address you directly!
