Tim Hardaway hates the gayness

by The Cavalier on February 15, 2007 · 39 comments

Former NBA guard Tim Hardaway took one for the blogosphere by really getting the “awkward statements about John Amaechi made during All-Star Weekend” festivities off to a collossal start.

In fact, this might not be beatable, unless someone just goes on an out-and-out like physical assault, gay-bashing massacre.

You see, yesterday on Dan LeBatard’s radio show…Tim Hardaway…spoke.

“You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known,” Hardaway said Wednesday. “I don’t like gay people and I don’t like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don’t like it. It shouldn’t be in the world or in the United States.”

‘”First of all, I wouldn’t want him on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would really distance myself from him because I don’t think that is right. I don’t think he should be in the locker room while we are in the
locker room.

“And I think the majority of players would ask for him to be traded or they would want to be traded…If you have 12 other ballplayers in your locker room that are upset and can’t concentrate and always worried about him in the locker room or on the court it’s going to be hard for your teammates to win and accept him as a teammate.”

The only way that could’ve been more entertaining is if he’s saved the “you know, I hate gay people” for the end, kind of like a recap.

Hardaway has already tried to apologize, but we’d say the damage is done here. And it’s spectacular.

On a side note, we have a friend heading to Vegas who’s actually endorsing a product there, and it’s one Hardaway does, as well. They’re supposed to be like in the booth together or wherever they go to speak about it.

We’ve sent off the story to him, and requested he “act all gay and crap”, just to see what happens. This of course assumes anyone paying Tim Hardaway to do anything hasn’t fired him by about noon tomorrow.

(Note that Tim’s website sucks. No pun intended – it’s just really bring and hasn’t been touched in roughly 7 years.)

“It shouldn’t be in the world or in the United States.”

Let’s hope his gaydar really sucks, and he just assumes everyone is straight. Or maybe hope that it’s really good, and he can just stay away from the gayness. ‘Cause when he starts mowing people down he’s going to face a lot of bad puns about the “killer crossover.”

5 points for anyone who finds an old picture of Tim Hardaway and John Amaechi on the court together.

2 Sean February 15, 2007 at 2:14 am

Wow…did someone from Newgrounds make that site?

3 The Big Picture February 15, 2007 at 4:18 am

“You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known.”

That’s really pretty redundant when you think about it. His public speaking skills should be more polished. Tsk, tsk.

4 G. Christopher February 15, 2007 at 7:20 am

Ooops. I’m a big stupid black man with no intelligence. Just a monkey making money on the court for the white man. That’s the laugh, The Gay Mafia will get you. WE own everything. WE make you jump for the ball. FUCK YOU BLACK BITCH.

5 MRMEL01 February 15, 2007 at 7:20 am

Kudos to Mr. Hardaway! His answer is consistant with a large segment of America, and most of the reporters are aware of that fact. If you don’t want to know how a person feels about a particular issue, please refrain from inquiring. While most people feel like Mr. Hardaway unfortunately they don’t have the heart to state their true feelings.

6 G. Christopher February 15, 2007 at 7:25 am

Yo! Proof that straight dudes are such pussies and gay dudes are so much stronger. We have to put up with shit like this and we ARE NOT AFFRAID. We’re pissed. Oh, and we tend to be much wealthier. More educated. More successful. Smarter. We’ll out smart and out perform you idiots every time because we’ve evolved to withstand assholes like Tim Hardaway.

You’ve hear of being on the DL…well guess what, this black bitch is just scared of his latent homosexuality. Heard he’s been doing it when no one’s looking.
What a chump. Get back on the boat you dirty piece of crap. Pro Athelets are the slaves of the 21st Century. Still stupid after all these years.

7 G. Christopher February 15, 2007 at 7:28 am

MRMELO1. Bend over, I’ll drive.
Bitch.

Actually MOST AMERICANS think people like YOU are the problem.
Narrow minded whiney, “I’m so scared of the gay guy…he thinks I’m pretty…he want’s me to do something bad…I’m a big girl bitch…I have no confidence in my sexuality so I’ll make everyone else suffer.”

Go fuck your sister if you’re so straight.
Pussy.

Gay ? Rather a SODOMITE. Homophobe ? Onother sodomite invented term. Oh please, humanophobe ? Its obvious Tim loves people.

9 Man February 15, 2007 at 7:41 am

I really respect Tim Hardaway for the balls to say what he feels without worrying about the political correctness of his statement. This is a free country and the constitution protects our right to free speech. I blame the liberal media and idiots that support them on this board for making a BIG deal about his statement. All you jerks that don’t support free expressions should really take a good look at yourselves. You guys and gals are really wimps and have no guts. Right on Tim Hardaway !!!

10 Rich February 15, 2007 at 7:41 am

There’s nothing worse than seeing a black man be a vicious bigot. Please tell Mr. Hardaway that for every one person who harbors hate for a homosexual, there are a thousand more who harbor hate for the American black man. For every one such as himself who might feel uncomfortable in locker room, there are a thousand who would like nothing better than Mr. Hardaway sitting at the back of the bus or drinking from a separate water fountain. Maybe he’d prefer signs at the luncheon counter that say “Heterosexuals Only.” You would think that someone who lives in a glass house wouldn’t throw stones.

Mr. Hardaway, thanks for setting back civil rights a thousand years. Dr. King is rolling in his grave.

When speaking to friends, both black and white, I guarantee I will mention boycotting The Support Group and Mr. Hardaway himself and I will request that they tell this story to two more of their friends. Children should not be exposed to hate or haters.

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

12 Fios February 15, 2007 at 7:51 am

Tim Hardaway is too busy to read your comments, he is playing the role model

13 Carl February 15, 2007 at 8:21 am

What a shame, what a shame. As much as the black man must endure the punishment of being himself – by birth, by genes, and by affirmation. Here comes the one of the most physically, gifted black men in America who has enjoyed the many ‘fruits’ of his profession and our adoration of his talent, to debase a group of people who are discriminated against for their birth, genes, and affirmation. What MORE damage can a Brotha do, less, he just stands by the door of a furnice and shove those “gay people” in. Admitting that you are ‘Homophobe’ may be noble, but there should be a clinic or retreat for you somewhere in Utah or Idaho (Ok, Ok, maybe, not there). Tim, please, call Foley and Haggart. They have a weath of information to share with you. In the mean time (in the words of Venezuala’s President Chavez), ‘GO TO HELL, GRINGO’. You will be in good company of those who share your ‘phobia’. Then, come back, your redemption is still possible. But, let’s take a few million from your pockets (No Mo Bentleys, Bitch). There are some poor, gay oppressed children who need the money and resources to educate the rest of society.

14 Luvtim February 15, 2007 at 8:24 am

It’s just like you simpleton Americans not to understand the subtle irony of the comments, laced with sexual tension, by that brilliant black bitch, Mr. Tim. Those of us in the know realize that in the passive role in a male homosexual relationship, foreplay often consist of taunting the dominant member of the act, titulated by the fantasy of being man-handled by an enraged brute, pounded with such violence to bring us to the climax of a lifetime. It’s every bottem’s wet dream. Mr Tim was clearly playing out his gay gang rape fantasy, and as I listened, I also had that fantasy.

15 MRMEL01 February 15, 2007 at 8:26 am

G.Chrisopher; I had a suspicion that you were an idiot, and a homo! You have confirmed both, and you really didn’t do anything to cause me to agree with people like you. If you really want people to respect your right to your opinion, please conduct yourself like an adult. As for me being a pussy, I definitely wouldn’t call you that. I doubt if you’ve ever seen one since one spit you out, but you are a DICKHEAD, and an ASSHOLE !! I think you can relate with that, right…..

To Timmy ‘the Homophobe’: “By The Way, Tim, did we just Protest too Much?”

17 Jeffrey Lachance February 15, 2007 at 8:53 am

Americans never surprise me.
Congats! to John Amaechi. -Just be-
Congrats! to all bigots everywhere.
It must be nice to be so brave.

If America is to free speech what religion is to the constitution: should anyone be upset?

Religion is a platform for bigots.
Separation of church and state doesn’t exist.
Our education system is presumptive positive for disease.

Yes students, our government says it is okay to be black now.
Yes students, it is also okay to be heterosexual.

Student to Teacher… I think I am homosexual. I was born this way. Can you help me?
Teacher to student… I am not alllowed to help you or talk about that. If you are black…
Now that we can talk about.

What a sad country. Free speech is a gift. Unfortunately it is abused.

For Goodness sake: JUST BE ALREADY!

Message to all heterosexual bigots: Just because we are gay doesn’t make you hot enough
to sleep with, so get over yourselves and start function-
ing with your brain and not your sexual considerations.

18 Barndancer February 15, 2007 at 8:53 am

Firstly, MRMEL01, you’re conspicuoulsly outclassed here, rhetorically speaking, babe! Secondly –re: Old Timmy there, this story was my laugh of the day! She’s got a face only a mother could love! Her fantasies about being wanted by gay men are figments of her once overly-paid imagination!! If she hadn’t played basketball she’d have been scrubbing floors like any other member of the genetically underprivileged!

19 The Cavalier February 15, 2007 at 9:11 am

Any of the regulars want to chime in? Maybe Jim from HoopsAddict? Is Tim your new favorite player?

20 Jordi February 15, 2007 at 9:14 am

Does does this mean he doesn’t like Rudy Gay either? Or NE Patriot Randall Gay? What about Florida State WR De’Cody Fagg?

21 dave February 15, 2007 at 9:22 am

MRMELO1

Why is it that people who are bigots are called “courgageous” for “standing up for their beliefs” and people who are non-bigots, who are also courageously standing up for their beliefs, are looked upon as politically correct pansies who are afraid to stand up to the big, bad liberal media. I’m so tired of the term “politicially correct.” It’s lost all meaning. Moron neanderthals who hate entire groups of people use the phrase to describe anybody who is tolerant or compassionate about another human being’s lifestyle. Oh, those spineless pussies!

Now go beat up some gay people, you straight-shootin’, honest, liberal media-defying hero!

22 Lucas February 15, 2007 at 10:21 am

I guess that means Valentines day is over.

23 Somefuelforyourfire February 15, 2007 at 10:27 am

Sorry The Cavalier, no can do. Quite a collection of village idiots you have here.

First, what’s with the gays today and their raging sexuality? Ooh, bad words to show how serious and important you are! Sheesh, do you guys ever not sexualize something? Clearly the gays did not get to celebrate Valentine’s Day in the desired fashion. Happy Copy-Paste day as you run from web-site to web-site today, frantic to spread the Gay Gospel far and wide. Funny, it didn’t seem like Good News when you were crying last night about how you wished you were born straight instead, right?

And you bigots, I’m sure it feels really good to covertly whisper on an anonymous web-site that you don’t like the gays. Why don’t you try living in a place where people hate you and call you names just because you don’t play football or talk with a lisp or like to act or happened to like guys instead of girls when the light went on in middle school, a place known as “nearly everywhere in the US not on the coast or a big city?” Not a good place to be. You may not like the way they live, but some of them are the most considerate, kind people you’ll ever meet. Separate the action from the person, already, and be thankful that your burden to carry in life didn’t include an invisible diversity to automatically alienate you from a good portion of the population.

24 Greg Ostertag February 15, 2007 at 11:17 am

Hey all, Greg Ostertag checking in…

You guys/gals that come on here and are bashing my man Tim Hardaway are just as bad as he is. ESPECIALLY the guy that mentioned Tim bouncing the ball like a trained monkey and what not… totally un-called for bro. I support a person’s freedom of speech and unlike the other guy, I don’t agree that people abuse free speech. How can you abuse something that is allowed to happen? Freedom of Speech isn’t a game at McDonald’s where there’s no purchase necessary and all the poor people come in for their game pieces… Freedom of speech is just that, it’s FREEDOM. Anyone, at any time, and any where can say whatever WHENEVER they feel like it. I don’t condone Tim’s comments, but I support his right to voice his opinions. Just because I think they’re wrong doesn’t mean that they’re not allowed to say what they want to say.

Screw you guys, I’m pissed that I’m still available for title contenders. The Cavalier, aren’t your boys looking for a guy that can clog up the lane? I’m better than that fag Scot Pollard.

With Love,
Greg “The Big Ostrich” Ostertag

25 dave February 15, 2007 at 12:43 pm

its not about freedom of speech, its about the fact that he’s a bigot. nobody is saying he shouldnt be allowed to say what he said. we’re just saying he’s a dickhole for being that way.

hey, hitler was very public about his hatred of jews. should he be lauded for his honesty, or hated because he was a racist? (no, im not comparing hardaway to hitler. just making a slightly clumsy analogy.)

26 The Cavalier February 15, 2007 at 1:10 pm

Good point Dave.

27 Greg Ostertag February 15, 2007 at 1:21 pm

Dave and The Cavalier,

I’m not saying what he said is right, and I was actually trying not to celebrate his use of free speech. All I was saying is that he’s voicing an opinion, just like the guys that posted earlier on in the post totally bashing Tim, I was actually trying to sorta come to his aid sorta without coming to his aid…

Being gay is ok with me guys, but don’t make being gay out as it’s worse than being a minority. Being gay will never be as bad as it is being a minority. At least you never had “hetero only” water fountains and bathrooms. Tim stated an opinion that a lot of people have. A lot of people are afraid of gay people for whatever their own personal reasons are.

I, for one, am not afraid of anyone… if you remember, I took a punch from Shaq and lived to tell about it.

Hugs and Kisses,
Greg.

28 dave February 15, 2007 at 1:43 pm

I agree, Greg. There should be freedom to gay bash and freedom to bash gay bashing as well. I just get irked when people (not you, particularly) paint this guy as a hero for being honest, when I don’t think honesty in and of itself is a virtue, especially when the thing you’re being honest about is kind of gross and hateful.

And thanks for the props, Cavalier. I feel giddy. Does that make me gay?

29 Nets fan February 15, 2007 at 2:44 pm

is this the real Greg Ostertag posting on a site?

30 The Cavalier February 15, 2007 at 4:21 pm

He’s a gentle giant.

31 Sam February 15, 2007 at 4:34 pm

Being gay will never be as bad as it is being a minority.

Gays ARE a minority. That’s why so many feel comfortable bashing them.

32 Carlo February 15, 2007 at 4:42 pm

Of course it’s the real Greg Ostertag. Why would anybody pretend to be someone else on the internet?

Also, I totally agree with dave regarding that political correctness-thingie (God that was gay). I fucking hate people who use that term.

My two gaycents. (WHAT?)

33 Carlo February 15, 2007 at 5:07 pm

Also; Timmie was cut off by the NBA. No more nba-caring for Timmie. Only fags care anyway.

34 jonnykilbane February 15, 2007 at 6:04 pm

um, what does any of this have to do with cake?

more to the point, what does any of this have to do with somebody smashing a 2′X 2′(!) brithday cake over somebody else’s back?

35 Greg Ostertag February 15, 2007 at 8:24 pm

I would never smash a birthday cake on a gay… never.

Ostertag out!

36 Greg Ostertag February 15, 2007 at 8:51 pm

By the way…

The Cavalier,

What are the chances that I can get Becky’s number? Because, after all, Tag hasn’t seen any action since Karl Malone was stealing all my touches, if ya know what I’m sayin’….

Your pal,
Big O

37 jonnykilbane February 15, 2007 at 10:32 pm

Hey Ostertag,

Of course you wouldn’t! I knew there was a reason you were my favorite actor!

Any chance you’d autograph my VHS copy of the 1997 “Touched By An Angel” episode (”Nothing But Net”) you guest-starred in? I taped the entire series (naturally) but that episode is still my favorite.

Your biggest fan,

J. Kilbane, Esq.
