Weird game lasterday* in Washington DC, also known as our nation’s capital.
Short version: Wiz down two, foul called on Gilbert with a tenth of a second left, Warriors Coach Don doesn’t like it, screams, gets technical. Gil makes three free throws, WAS wins.
GSW obviously would’ve preferred they go to OT, rather than have the game decided by a ref who doesn’t like hearing swears.
Warriors player guy Al Harrington couldn’t contain himself after the game, and used a bunch of words.
“The refs made a very, very, very bad call. I don’t know if I’m going to get fined for that, but that was just an awful call. I really don’t mind the (personal) foul, because if (Arenas) makes the two free throws, we’re playing an extra five minutes (in overtime). But the technical was just ridiculous, because now you’ve just taken the game completely away from us. I saw my coach on the court and I saw (Wizards Coach) Eddie Jordan on the court. So why does my coach have to get the technical?”
Where we stand on this is irrelevent, but we suppose you come here to find out where we stand on things, so here goes.
Clearly we fall on the Wiz side of things, as their race with Shaq’s MIA people is much more interesting than pretending the Warriors are gonna make a postseason run.
That (BDP) said, we’d much prefer if the refs had just kept issuing technicals on both sides, as each coach got madder and madder, and on through the assistant coaches, and then through all 12 players on each bench, until everyone had been ejected.
With all those free throws, there could’ve been like 40 extra points put up in the last half second of the game, which would surely be a record, going down in NBA history as the coolest thing that ever happened.
The end.
EPILOGUE: We’d just like to point out that with the addition of Matt Barnes, we officially don’t know what more of the Warriors actually look like than any other team.
(*Yes, it’s our new favorite word.)

That was a bogus foul call. I hate the Wizards more than I hate the Cavaliers..
I live in the DC area and end up watching Wizards games from time to time, their announcers are the whiniest pair of grown men on TV, hands down. It’s enough to make me mute the commentary.
Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier are the worst…
Fios, if you’re in the DC area, perhaps we should get together and discuss why we have such differing opinions on who the best team in the Eastern Conference is…
DAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGER!
If you search for “that said”, it just returns the entire blog.
Just sayin.
Boney, because I am right and you are wrong … tada! Annnnnnnnnnnnntagonistic (that is a fun word to say in that fashion) … when I say DC area, I actually mean No. Va. … y tu?
I am in NOVA as well. Prepping myself to move from lovely Fairfax to lovely Ashburn (Brambleton) where all the Redskins live…
Nice, I am also in Fairfax (in the city itself) and my employer is quite close to Ashburn (Dulles) … I assume you are a Lions fan?
unfortunately I am a Lions’ fan… but that’s ok, I’d rather see the baseball and basketball teams win than sacrifice all of that just to see the lowly lions win.
You may not realize it yet, but in his own, crack addicted way, giant sized head touching Matt Barnes did save the Warriors. If you click on that link, you realize you may have hit on a sore spot. A crack addicted, creepy, sore spot.
That is classic. I’d pay to see a free throw shooting contest like that! We all know the Wiz would still win with Arenas, though. He’s a monster.
I agree Phil Chenier is the worst and can’t even complete a thought, to busy scanning for women I’m sure.
