We apologize for our absense lasterday. Normally we let you knwo these things ahead of time, but we were too busy reading about the complete 911 history of Ron Artest and Family in Sacramento and wondering how exactly Shaq gets to host a reality show about overeating.
Alas, we unfortunately can return for only a solitary post on this day, and we must use that space not talk about Carmelo Anthony potentially being benched, but to set up tonight’s Cavs-Pistons game in Detroit. (Surely Boney needs a place to spout his DET musings, yes?)
DET is DET, and thus are playing well despite a blowout loss to the Warriors the other night. The Cavs are officially resurgent, with Larry Hughes running the point and LeBron James suddenly remembering he’s LeBron James. That all makes this an important game.
“It has a little extra meaning for us because it’s a challenge for us to keep playing well, like we’ve done the last few ballgames,” LeBron James said. “We were disappointed with the way we played against Detroit at home. We still hadn’t figured out what we wanted to be as a team at that point, but we’ve played pretty well the last few weeks.”
“We’ve got 20-plus games left; there’s no doubt we could catch them,” James said. “That’s why (tonight’s) game is so important.”
Let dive back into the world of self-torture for a moment, and declare that we’re not totally over this whole thing yet. LeBron…if you’d been playing like this since November, this whole “3 games back on Detroit” thing wouldn’t be an issue, would it?
All that really matters in the long run is today, however, and what’s happening right now. Reader Roger summarizes it much better than we can.
This is totally cycle of abuse, as I have dropped the abuse charges against the Cavs and am letting them move back into the house. What am I doing to the children?!
Indeed. Indeed. Indeed.
GO CAVS.
Damn it. We said it. We don’t think we were ready yet. We said it, though.
We said it.
UPDATE: High-profile commenters Boney and FIOS are meeting somewhere in or around Washington DC to watch this game together. We have idea what the result will be, but they’re both going to send in their version of the evening’s events.

I used the abuse line weeks ago … no love at all (I like Roger’s better for the record)
Did you email it though? I like posting emails.
Fios you know you’re one of my favorites. You’re like a son to me.
I think this post should be filed under “Boney” instead of “Readers”.
I will let the play on the court tonight speak for me. If Sheed plays? Then I’ll respect a Cavs’ win. If Sheed doesn’t? Then I’ll respect the Cavs as much as I respect their recent resurgence and/or the fact they took DET to 7 games last season. Sheed is pivotal to the success of the team.
By the way, I saw a “highlight” of a “Z” underhand (followed by 4 steps without dribbling, that’s called traveling I think) scoop shot? How does this shot not get rejected every time he lobs it up? “Z” has lost any offensive skill he once had, and is now settling for said underhand (followed by 5 steps without dribbling, that’s called traveling still, I think) scoop shot. why is this “shot” highlighted on Sportscenter?
Oh, and if the Cavs bust out their orangecicle unis tonight, I’m going to set my HDTv to black and white instead of color. That orange disrespects all HDTvs, it will not disrespect mine.
I hate you! Stop smothering me! … whoops, had a relapse there, sorry
P.S. No, I did not e-mail my not-as-good line
How does he travel if he takes the step after shooting the scoop shot?
Fios and I should get together at a local pub tonight to hash out our differences between the two clubs..
Perhaps it can be dubbed as the “YAYSports! Commenter summit featuring: Boney and Fios”
No?
Do it oh yeah.
I’m up for (and down with) that
Do this for real and take pics please.
The Cavalier, it’s not like I’m going to be wearing my throwback John Salley jersey and my 1990 “Back 2 Back Champions” hat. So why would you need pix?
Besides, I don’t know FIOS’ email address… so maybe The Cavalier can forward my email addy to him and possibly we can set it up.
Who Shot Boney?
Great, give away the ending before it even happens, way to go
Am I the only one that thinks the fact that LARRY HUGHES is running the point?
I mean.
Larry Hughes?
That’s a tough question to answer, seeing as how it’s not a question.
Oh god.
You are very right, Frank.
But do I really need to say “is ridiculous”?
Do I really need to?
Record with Larry running the point; 2-0, “Ridiculous!” or as ZAKK would say, ” .”
Yeah, because I interpreted it as “is mildly ridiculous”, which was clearly not your intent.
I’m going to be mad if I end up shot.
damn man, the more I think of it… this is beginning to feel kinda like a date…
I’m going to have to break out the CK-1 cologne and the nice sweatervest… I hope FIOS puts out!
Sorry guys, I was busy accepting my diploma from Harvard, ok.
That’s why I couldn’t finish my own sentence.
I want pictures from the Boney/Fios summit too. Are you guys going to bring your computers so that if it gets awkward, you can just turn your backs to one another and start IM’ing each other? :-p Just kidding, I’m envious, actually.
It’s not going to get awkward. I actually thought of bringing some of those “Hi! My name is _______” nametags, but since it’ll only be the 2 of us, I’m going to just bring some romantic candles and chardonnay in a box.
The comments Tony Parker would make.
The orange jerseys are hella cool. I want one with Terrel Bradon’s name&#. (GAY.)
I thought this was the blog where a series of words becomes a sentence.
Typos are cool. Chill.
But no I don’t think Larry running the point is rediculous.
I actually plan on putting roofies in my own drinks
Damn Mike Brown is chubby…..
I knew LeBron didn’t get it off in time and this large man is running to the locker room.
At least LeBron is back. Go Rnaptors!
Cavalier – your comment section is hating on me. I posted earlier tonight – it didn’t show and then I tried to submit again and it gave me the “You already said that dumbass!!” And now it is not here. Therein I made a bunch of hilarious comments that were post-proper worthy. For serious.
I think it would’ve better had they just counted LBJ’s three at the buzzer. At least then it would have felt like “Detroit was robbed” instead of “Detroit was beat.”
I don’t know what to tell you except that I’m SO back onboard.
Welcome back. Use some foundation to cover the bruises.
phoenix sucks
“I wanna see the Pistons go down on that box.”
-Rick Mahorn, on the Bad Boys offense, I think.
“The Pistons got a gift there.”
-Rick Mahorn re: Call against Andy in Rip’s favor on go ahead 3 point play.
Well, I think its safe to say the Eastern Conference is wholly wide open again. Tayshaun’s having a pretty disappointing season. Webber and Sheed are becoming too slow on D. Phoenix does suck.
-Go Blazers
Yeah, the Bobcats are gonna take it all!
How many more season will Webber & Sheed wanna play?
Anderson Varejao flopped on that call at the end of the game, clearly a blocking foul.
Overall good game though… I’ve got no excuses for the way the Pistons played, both teams played hard. Cavs got it tonight, still got one more to go though until the playoffs.
I dont mind if Detroit goes in as a 2 or 3 seed, unlike others that seem to think it’s of dire need for the Cavs to go in as a 1.
Who gives a poop about the East? Spurs are gonna win it all. What team could the Cavaliers beat in the finals, Cavalier?? Even if their lack of offense, a coach and enthusiasm waltz past the pistons and CHEAT they’ll get owned like Chris Kaman’s nuts against NOK. If that was the team they were playing when that happened. OLE!
