Of course, they weren’t a bunch of headcases like the Mavs.
We feel a little bad going so deep into this knowing what we know about zack’s mental state at the moment, but this is, after all, THE STORY of the first round. (Especially when 3/4 of the Eastern bracket are sweeping, and the other 1/4 is Vince Carter bastardinzing all that is good and decent in basketball.*)
Yeah, so the GSW took it to DAL again last night, and a world where we actively root for Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, and Don Nelson is a strange one indeed. NOt that we have anything against Don Nelson – it’s just weird.
Everyone is happy. And scheming.
“I feel good about our position, but I have a great deal of respect for the Dallas Mavericks and what they’ve done this year,†Warriors coach Don Nelson warned. “If any team can come back and win four in a row [actually three], they can do it. They’ve done it many, many times.â€Â
Like we said, we’ve never really thought anything any which way about Coach Don, but we do love what he’s doing with this whole situation.
Before and after every game, he goes into this “aw shucks” thing where he talks about how the Warriors don’t have a shot against the almighty Mavericks. It’s all quite genius.
As for the Mavs, when are they gonna give Dirk his expected MVP Award? That’s usually like a second round thing, and we tend to think it’d be awkward to present it to him in San Antonio or Phoenix or wherever the Warriors are playing Game 1 of the next round.
Again, if this series upset comes to pass (and it hasn’t yet…see sentence 1), it means nothing but great things for this summer, unless it pushes Mark Cuban to sell. This would be a disaster. A Mark Cuban who decides he needs Kevin Garnett or Jermaine O’Neal or Jason Kapono, though?
*Sorry Becky – Vince Carter is this year’s Rasheed Wallace for us. We’re not letting up anytime soon.
