The Cavaliers are planning EXPLOSIVE charges
Published by The Cavalier May 24th, 2007 in NBA, EXPLOSIONS
Only time to get one post up today…apologies and such and such.
Foremost on our mind is obviously CLE-DET Game 2 tonight, and Coach Mike says his Cavaliers (finally) need to get to the hoop…no matter what.
“We’ve got to drive the basketball and we have to attack bodies when we drive the ball,'’ he said, “and if we all foul out because everybody has six charges, then so be it.'’
Well…somebody’s been renting those Basketball Basics DVDs…good for him!
Pat Riley says the draft lottery encourages teams to tank and that it should just be a straight “draft order is determined by worst record” system. Ummm…wouldn’t this encourage even more blatant tanking?
Sheed is being much more nubile and crafty in his choice of words this season, so don’t look for any GuaranSheeds…until he slips up and says something stupid, which you know he will.
Rick Adelman, your new Houston Rockets head coach. Sure, why not? That’s pretty much the entire reaction - now Tracy McGrady can lose in the 1st round with an offensive gameplan, rather than defensive.
Sam Vincent, your new Charlotte Bobcats head coach. Sure, why not? That’s pretty much the entire reaction - now Tracy McGrady can lose in the 1st round with an offensive gameplan, rather than defensive.
A WNBA team scored 100 points! Now Tracy McGrady can lose in the 1st round with an offensive gameplan, rather than defensive!
Stan Van Gundy, not your new Indiana Pacers head coach, by his (wise) choice. This has nothing to do with Tracy McGrady, but everything to do with Yao.
Celticsblog is ready to look forward now, and wonders what to do with Paul Pierce and the best young talent in the NBA.
One of our most loyal readers has started a magazine about CA, and it has pictures of pretty girls.
TwolvesBlog wants to trade Garnett and Foye for Oden and junk. We really have no reaction to that - we don’t see either side being interested.
The Big Lead gets into a spoiler-filled Lost discussion. We are so down with that finale last night. What are like the big Lost message boards - anybody know? We’re ready to read theories, of which we have many of our own, of course.
Cavs win Game 2 by seven points. LeBron on his worst nights gets at least 25, and DET is coached by Flip Saunders.

LOOK OUT RICK!
I like pictures of pretty girls. And loyal readers.
My computer however is not so much a fan of that link.
RE: Lost message boards
Try www.4815162342.com for straight message boards. And www.lostpedia.org for a crazy lot of information about the whole Lost universe.
- “Scentless Apprentice” while a hopped-up Jack is crusing around. Nice choice.
- Christian Shepherd is dead. He has to be. If he’s not, nuts to that.
- Naomi was the rattlesnake in the mailbox.
- Claire is now single again. I hope she’ll consider me.
- Overall, good episode. We now have four factions of people “on” or about to be on the island:
1) The Losties group with Jack and Ben
2) The Losties group on the beach (w/ Desmond)
3) The Others group w/ Richard Alpert
4) Naomi’s boat peoples
- There are a TON of Watchman references going on. TONS.
- Something about a really fat man driving a bus seems more impactful than a skinny man driving a bus.
- Sawyer did the right thing. Waste ‘em before they have a chance to come back and waste you.
- The “main” girl down in the Looking Glass is HOT. Or, at least nice body.
- Mikhail cannot be killed. You will have to sever that motherfucker’s head to make sure he’s dead.
- Walt was a “Jacob apparition” i.e. Yemi. We hadn’t seen one of those in some time, aside from ben’s mom.
- The funeral… I don’t know. I’m thinking it’s Michael or Ben.
- Probably the best acting I’ve ever seen from Jack/Matthew Fox, mostly in the flash-forward segs.
- How “evil/bad” is Naomi and her boat peoples really? Do they truly have some fucked-up motives (ben says “everyone on this island will be killed), or is this just Ben not wanting his island paradise to be ruined?
- Too bad Juliet didn’t get killed. Them are some baggy implants she’s rocking.
- Jack being hooked on oxycontin was sweet.
- ENOUGH ROSE AND BERNARD ALREADY. No one likes them. And fuck Bernard’s pussy fucking ass breaking under pressure and telling ALL of their secrets in DETAIL. Dude, seriously, just act like you’re talking and make some shit up. They’d never figure out he was lying, at least not for awhile. And fuck him for running away into the jungle. Fuck him in general. He sucks.
- Charlie also turned some of his best acting.
Does Ruck Adelman alter the vowel in his first name for no reason? Sometimes.
I think Naomi’s people are Dharma -
I think Naomi’s people are Greg -
Jenna Elfman’s looks went down hill fast… she used to be a little bit money, now she’s just a handful of change.
Television Without Pity. obv.
Just to clarify, I didn’t say I “wanted” to trade KG for Oden. I just thought it was an interesting scenario to think about. It has it’s pro’s and con’s for both teams.
Riles isn’t the first guy to come up with the argument that the lottery encourages tanking. Can anyone explain this one to me? I mean, wouldn’t MEM and BOS have 9000% more reasons to tank in a straight reverse order draft?
Anyway, after all the buzz this year’s lottery generated - I mean, live TV coverage, live blogging, for ping pong balls! - there’s no way the NBA is going to change it.
yeah but Riley of all people? he’s the king of giving up on his team, and to say the NBA should change the system because of TEAMS that give up during the season is just ridiculous…
hey riles, maybe they should change the system by putting the ping pong balls in your “mystery bowl” in the center of the lockerroom… or maybe, we can watch the Draft Lottery on the TruthBox… OR… maybe the RANGERCORP can oversee the Draft Lottery… either way Riles, you have no room to talk about giving up on the season, a team, or anything…
GOOD THREAD.
THE USA IS HERE TO STAY
BAD THREAD.
VIVA IRAQ, OLE!
television without pity kicks ass.
botched fake name comment… my bad
Hey IRAQ Jim…you want to duke it out & see who is the biggest Patriot?
Didn’t think so….
USA! USA! USA! USA!
I love the insertion of Mamba. You can’t keep a good snake down! Or a slimy, selfish one either.
umm… pardon Maxiell while he serves up ‘Bron with a facial, and then eats another baby on the alley oops at the other end
holy crap. the refs are taking away Lebron’s entire game. people will be saying how hughes and varejao missed their shots, but the point is THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE TO HAVE MADE THEM. James earned his free throws.
Jephos,
It became pretty clear in the 3rd quarter that fouls that would have put the Cavs at the line would not be called for the rest of the game. LeBron should have planned accordingly and driven in for a dunk.
LeBron got whored on that last play, but the game was called pretty loose all game. You’re not going to get that call on the road. Plus, you’re up 12, and held to 26 points in a half, it should have never come down to that final shot.
I’m done with the NBA. I hate blaming refs for shit, but seriously, this was the worst called game I have ever seen. Be fair, and for fucks sakes, when LeBron gets raped by RIP, it isn’t good position. It’s a foul
I agree with Boney. That was an awesome play Coach Mike set up on the last possession.
I have never used the refs as an excuse, or talked about bad officiating as anything other than human error, but tonight’s game was the worst officiating I have ever seen. And it was not only shooting fouls.
I counted at least five fouls or calls that were blatantly wrong, and that went against the Cavs. I even counted a few that went against the Pistons which were blatantly wrong. But they did not cancel out; the calls were much more detrimental to the Cavs.
On one call they said that LeBron stepped out of bounds, but he clearly did not. The official who made the call was literally no more than a foot from LeBron, so what could he possibly have been looking at?
And that McDyess “block” of LeBron late in the 4th? He got no ball whatsoever–it was all arm!
Unbelievable, as Mike Brown said. Did it cost them the game? No. Their passive play in the third quarter cost them the game. But the officiating was atrocious tonight, and it really hurt the Cavs’ confidence.
I had to post this somewhere and get it off my chest. I have never been this angry about officiating. Thanks, and goodnight.
guys, “Coach” Mike set LeBron up for failure on that last “play” of the game. 24.3 seconds on the shot clock and it’s a straight up isolation call? No motion at all until LeBron put up his 1st attempt.
Don’t blame it all on that one play though, blame Coach Mike’s decision to not keep the perimeter shooters on the floor early in the 4th quarter when it was clear DET was having a hard time guarding them. When I saw Z back on the floor, I breathed a sigh of relief because Gibson, Jones, and Donyell were giving Detroit fits on the defensive end. I’ve never seen that defense spread so thin…
LeBron lead a bit with the off arm, but he always does. Clearly there was contact by Rip on that final drive, and I would’ve given credit where it was due if they would have called the foul.
Did LeBron get fouled on that last play? Ya, but as Boney said, it should have never come down to that.
1) the Cavs got that 12 point halftime lead by having shooters on the floor.
2) the offense was failing after halftime and Brown didn’t make a sub for over 6 minutes and that sub was Anderson Varejao.
3) Larry Hughes played 38 minutes, which is about 38 more than he deserves (how he managed to stay on the floor after his two TOs in the 4th is beyond me)
4) the last play was awful. No pick. No movement. And for some reason Donyell Marsall was out there.
5) the Cavs are down a single point and their power forward is camped outside the 3pt line AND HE DIDN’T CRASH THE BOARDS WHEN LEBRON MISSED. I’m OK with having a shooter out there (*cough* Daniel Gibson) but when you need one basket, you don’t have your PF 25 feet away from the hoop
6) Daniel Gibson needs to play more basketball for the Cavs.
7) First half: LeBron made his move quickly and attacked before the Pistons could set their D. Second half: LeBron held the ball and allowed the Pistons to set their D.
I’d say they’re screwed at this point - the fear of a 3rd quarter collapse will kill them from here on no matter what lead they have. In fact, I’d rather they have a 2 point lead than a 10 point lead.
And beyond the foul by Hamilton, LeBron’s shot at the end was horrible. Try a ball fake. Or a little hook. Anything. He just threw it up.
As good as he is, he really needs to work on his game.
you can say it should have never come down to that…but it did. These are the finals. We are not gonna blow out the opponent. They will come back. I hate when people say that
nice… Boney getting props with today’s comments!
pretty soon I’ll lose the “props” by regurgitating my “well at least the Pistons won a title in 1989!”
you love coach mike. admit it.
