The Jazz are advancing

With all the uproar over the Suns/Spurs suspensions and the resurrected malaise of the Lasers, a lot of people forgot that last night there was a Jazz-Warriors game.

Of course, was it a Jazz game or a Warriors game? Whose storyline is this now, anyway?

Whatever the case, the Jazz won and the Warriors are going home, allowing Baron Davis to begin asking for crazy 6-year extensions.

The losing team was fair in their assessment, admitting that the Jazz simply were better, and had played better, throughout the series.

“They shot layups, we shot jumpers,” Davis said. “They got to the foul line, we didn’t. They got offensive rebounds. The same thing that happened in Game 4, Game 1 and Game 2, things that came back to haunt us, haunted us tonight. We were right there. We had an opportunity to win this ballgame and take it back to Oakland.”

Yeah, that sums it up – the Jazz were better. We have no idea how they’ll fare in the next round, but we like their chances to make it competitive against either PHX or SAS, or even both at once.

They’ll be completely overlooked outside of the “underdog” tag, but with Boozer and Devon Wilkers and Ivan and Ukker, they’re gonna be tough.

As for that Baron Davis extension, there’s no way in any sort of firey afterlife area that we’d hop on a 6-year deal with this guy, no matter what he did in this postseason. “Small sample size” is the best argument we’ve got. We don’t think we have to go into the specifics of cakes and hamstrings and other issues, but we can if you want us to.
