(This post was also written by Jack Cobra. He prefers the company of women who look like women, not women who look like men, Miss Taurasi)

Before I get into my obligated post of the Warriors/Jazz series where I praise them in the same manner that I praise the man who invented chocolate pudding, I feel the need to post this. It has nothing to do with the playoffs, and everything to do with Team USA.

Earlier this week I was running outside (because it was sunny) and when I do that I begin to think about one of three things:

1. Why are pretzels so good?

2. If I asked that girl out, could I talk her into wearing those running shorts on the date?

3. Running is boring, why am I doing it?

For some reason though, a fourth question popped into my head….With all the Team USA guards getting hurt/not wanting to play/needing a break this Summer, will Team USA call on Baron Davis to lead them through Olympic qualifying and into the 2008 Olympics? (Apparently he’s already ‘in’ with Laura Bush! Who would Baron do first, Mrs. Bush or Taurasi?)

There are few things on this Earth that irk me more than when we (USA) don’t win the Gold Medal in the Olympics/International Competition. We invented the game (I don’t care if Naismith is Canadian….we also invented spaghetti. You like that Jordi?), we have the best athletes, we are supposed to have the best coaches…..we should win, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. So, when I began to think of the Baron of Bay Area leading us this Summer I became very concerned. This would seem to be a move that Team USA would make since they have history of picking players after they have a good season (see: Boozer, Carlos). With that I began to look around to see if anyone else had been thinking the same thing. Luckily, only one other article about it, for now, and that is from San Jose and who reads the paper in San Jose. We may be safe for now, if the Warriors win a few more games though…..

I understand that Davis is having a very nice playoff run and had a pretty good regular season, but he is not the guard Team USA needs. I’m not going to go into the specific reasons, you watch the games, you can figure it out for yourself.

Ok, Davis is a shoot first guard, he’s not a great defender, he dribbles too much and I guess I just told you the reasons. Anyways, this is not what Team USA needs for international competition. They need someone who can run an offense and play defense. That’s it. They shouldn’t have to score with all the other players on the team. Jerry Colangelo, please don’t pick Baron Davis for Team USA this Summer. If you do so I may be relegated to sending you, in the actual mail, Deron Williams basketball cards.

In other non-related NBA Playoff news……I can’t post comments on here anymore and it’s absolutely killing me. Not from work, not from home and not from the house of the girl I went on a date with last night. Sometimes I’ll type in a comment and it will act like it was accepted but it doesn’t post. I’ve had great comments this week about Boney, The Cavalier/Becky/McBias Love Triangle and Steve Nash’s bloody Canadian nose. Plus, in the bottom left hand corner of my screen it says, ‘Done, but with errors’. I click on that and it says, “Syntax Error” or “Class is undefined”. So, if any of you are computer whiz’s, help me out please by sending me an email.

Well, I think that means it is defined as unclassy to send YaySports comments from a woman’s home when you are just dating. You don’t start ignoring her to talk to your computer buddies until the third year of marriage.

I sometimes can’t post comments here. Actually, I can only post comments when Jack Cobra is the author of the post. Weird, huh?

Maybe you’ve landed on The Cavalier’s sh*tlist, too?

  3. 3 The Cavalier

Sometimes I can’t post comments either. The site is getting a complete overhaul in the near future anyway - I never was able to determine and fix all the Wordpress bugs/coding/etc myself.

Ummm… America (F’ Yeah!) didn’t invent basketball Mr. Cobra. James Naismith was Canadian, and although he did invent it in Massachusettes, it was derived from a Canadian game called “Duck on a Rock”. (Man, does Wikipedia make me seem smart!)

Ref. the posting error: I get that too sometimes. Just hit reload. Your comment should post. At least mine do when I get that error.

Yeah, but it took American ingenuity to cut the bottoms out of the baskets, Mr. SmartyJordi.

Why are they giving Laura Bush a Clipper jersey?

  7. 7 TVBrain

    Because she sucks too.

“They need someone who can run an offense and play defense. That’s it.”

    They need Kidd and Billups.

Different topic: Is there something like a canadian team? Is Nash part of it?
