Kobe to Bulls? Please, God, No!

(Jack Cobra again. That picture up top is being re-produced without expressed written consent of The Cavalier or the YAYSports Gods. I’m not sure when this was made by The Cavalier but obviously Katie Couric was still on The Today Show so it’s been quite some time.)
I never write about basketball anymore on my own site because I spend Friday’s here getting it all out of my system. Also, since you could care less about the Bulls and I try to keep things current, I have been unable to write about this whole Kobe Bryant to the Bulls trade talk/scenario/debacle/quagmire/etc. So, since I turned back the clock on re-using a pic The Cavalier created on a date unknown (and to help give him ssssome inspiration on his PhotoShop work), I’m going to talk about the Kobe Situation now.
John Paxson, don’t do it. I know it’s tempting, I know we could use someone who can score all the time and I know the Eastern Conference is weak; but please don’t do it. Making this trade would take far too many assets that the Bulls have worked hard to acquire. They would have to give up Luol Deng, the #9 pick in the draft, probably Ben Gordon would be in the deal too and maybe Tyrus Thomas. Kirk Hinrich, Kobe Bryant, Thabo Sefolosha, ?????, and Ben Wallace. That is not a good team. I’m not even sure that’s a better team than the Lakers had this season.
So here is what you do Pax. You take that #9 pick, Nocioni (sign and trade) and P.J Brown (sign and trade) and offer it to Phoenix. They are trying to get rid of Shawn Marion. Maybe it’s enough, maybe you have to add in Tyrus Thomas. Either way, I could deal with that. That’s best case scenario.
Worst case scenario is that the Bulls don’t make a trade and end up drafting The Chinaman. This scenario I am not a fan of. Please do not do it. Also, don’t draft the white kid from Washington or the former tennis player’s son from Florida. Please don’t draft them. Feel free to draft the Curry kid from Oklahoma State in the second round, I’d be happy with that.
This is all the Bulls coverage you are going to get from me until next Friday after the Bulls have traded for Kobe, which will happen after Oden is drafted second and I am forced to write about it in German.

But Jack, Paxson has shown a sure-fire ability to draft well in the last few years. Thus, he’s going to have extend all his young players at the same time, putting the Bulls in a bad place. Why not instead get someone in the middle of their career (like Kobe) for some of the kids to get better balance? Name me the last team made up entirely of youngsters to grow together and become an NBA power. The Mavs never quite made it with Steve/Dirk/Mike, the Clippers young group fell apart, etc. I think they need Kobe.
oh for the days when the Cavalier still had his fastball….
The Bulls wouldn’t have anyone left after trading for Kobe. They would have to give up too much to get it done. As long as the younger players (Deng and Gordon) don’t ask for max deals (and they shouldn’t) and Nocioni is traded, the Bulls will be doing well financially.
Plus, if the Bulls traded for Kobe they would go from an unselfish team that relies on ball movement to a team that doesn’t move the ball hardly at all and relies on one guy to do the majority of the scoring. I’m not a fan of that when he’s shown (statistically) that he’s not able to get his teammates involved during the game. At least MJ would pass the ball to Pip, Horace, Paxson, BJ and Kerr.
I’m telling you - I’m just like Vince Carter! All talent, no heart.
With one good series left…
But Gordon is already the ball-hogging liability that Kobe would be, ha, so the Bulls are used to it. (ducks) Seriously, though, I think the Bulls have to do something. I don’t think Skiles and Kobe would get along, though, now that I think about it.
You’d be surprised with Gordon. He fills a role in the Bulls offense, so you are right there, but it’s a role that wouldn’t be enough for Kobe. So, you couldn’t substitute Kobe for Gordon because Kobe would need the ball that much more. Gordon gets a lot of his shots running off of picks or pick and pops where he shoots. Kobe needs space to work his 1 on 1 skills. I just don’t think it would work very well.
The Bulls need a low post scoring presence. Spencer Hawes isn’t the answer.
I’m beginning to miss all the talk about the Cavaliers. since when did this site become so “let’s talk about all the other teams plus some 3-D stuff” and less about Damon Jones and his anger towards the media for being disrespectful after Game 4 of the Finals? Why wasn’t he angry after Game 1 or BEFORE the series?
Jesus… let’s get some WHINE and GOLD action in here pronto! My funny bone needs to be tickled!
Jesus Boney, you’ve been complaining since like February. The 3D post WAS about the Cavs. Not much going on when you don’t have a draft pick….
Jack, you know I love you. I’m trying to spruce up the place with requests for more Cavs things, so becky can be entertained… because was becky here the guy:girl ratio is like 40:1, without her here it’s 40:0
Also, because even the blindest of blind homers from the chicago side can’t seem to understand that PJ Brown just might not go for the idea of a sign and then trade him to another team that sucks.
ummm… he is old you know
I don’t think Kobe is going anywhere. LA needs a superstar in return and Bulls cant offer that up. Even with a 3 way trade the Lakers won’t be able to get someone that “sells” like Kobe. What most don’t understand is that going to Laker games is a show. Even if the Lakers are not good, having Kobe on your team gives fans a reason to show up and pay top dollar for tickets for the simple reason Kobe could go off for 70 on any given night.
