Ray Allen loves green jerseys

by The Cavalier on June 29, 2007 · 9 comments

Just as most Boston fans, if they follow their typical patterns, have between last night and this morning convinced themselves the Ray Allen deal is for the best, we too have re-evaluated it.

Difference being we still feel the same about it – it stinks.

THAT SAID, the Celtics have some options here – namely, completely ditch the faux-youth movement and go for it all. Throw Al Jefferson and anybody not named Ray or Paul out there and try and get a Kevin Garnett or Shawn Marion, whether they want to play for BOS or not. Then sign Grant Hill with the MLE. Become the post ‘95 Houston Rockets.

We’re not alone in this thinking – in fact, it’s the only thing that makes any sort of sense.

Pierce/Allen/Garnett would have to be competitive in the East no matter who else is out there with them, wouldn’t they? The Cavaliers made it to the Finals without a point guard, why couldn’t those Celtics?

These three together, plus some starving vets…why, they could stop starvation in Africa. They could get us to Mars finally. They could get Jason Richardson traded to Charlotte for a freshly drafted rookie.

This really could be just like Barkley/Pippen/Olajuwan did it in Houston. Oh, wait. That’s right…they didn’t. Plus, this is Danny Ainge making the plans and Coach Doc leading the charge.

Oh well, worst case scenario is Ray Allen and Celtics youngin’ Allen Ray stand next each other a lot with their backs to the photographers, with a brooding Paul Pierce in the background . At least we all get something out of that.

NOTE: We really think the “Ray Allen playing for all the green jersey’d teams” is an unexplored and under-analyzed part of this story. There’s something very, very wrong and also very, very right about this.

i think this means we will definitely make another run at KG.

KG doesn’t like wally. wally (and his mega-contract) is now gone.
KG wanted to play for a contender. A team with him, pierce, and allen will be better than any team he has played on in minny.
We still have theo’s contract, al, and Gerald Green to use as trading chips.

this works for us. the wally salary dump was a great move and will offset the cost of ray allen’s deal. we lose jeff green (who cares) and delonte west (it pains me to say it but…who cares)

we have ray for 3 years. does he have 3 good years left in him? absolutely. he probably has more.

Crap, I posted the following rambling comment just 2 seconds earlier in the ray allen is a celtics post.

“Also, did they trade away allan ray? If I were ray allen I would push for a trade clause that allan ray’s jersey number has to be an arrow pointing to his right AND that he always stand to ray allen’s immediate left in huddles. No?”

So how do we settle how the profits from this idea will be split up?

Pierce/Allen/Garnett might do it, but Pierce/Allen/Marion/Hill does NOT do it. No effing way.

Also, their coach is still Doc Rivers.
I’ll give them 40 wins, with Garnett. Maybe.

I can’t believe people were actually calling the J Rich trade to Charlotte a bad move by the Bobcats. They traded an unproven rookie who hasn’t played in 1 NBA game for a vet and another rookie. Shits astronomical. Now all they have to do is not break any hips. Emeka has probably played 34 games.
