Wow, this is a great deal for the Knicks. We’re kinda jealous. Granted, Zach in NYC could possibly be a social disaster, but they also now have the best combo of quality scoring and chubbiness you could ever hope for in an NBA front line. (Not counting Jared Jeffries.)
Portland gets a nice young big man for the bench and cap flexibility whenever Stevie implodes/contract expires/agrees to buyout. Look out for the Blazers in like 2 years. Look out for a sub sandwich shortage in NYC by Sunday morning.
NOTE: If you’re a NYC prostitute, give it like 3-5 months. Let him get settled in – there’s overload potential here, which could lead to the previously mentioned social disaster.

NOTE 3: Jim Gray is talking Kobe at the moment, and he says owner Jerry Buss isn’t going to make a trade just to make a trade. While that’s the smart, non-Ainge-ian thing to do, we have to say it’s crushing for those of us writing about the league.

I am a New Yorker, so allow me to step out of my Roundie-trolling persona to offer a coherent comment on this one. I like getting rid of Steve Francis, and there’s no denying Zach Randolph’s productivity, but isn’t this just going to take the Knicks’ locker room chemistry from questionable to toxic?
Oh, and the Knicks just drafted a player with questionable intensity and dedication who refused to work out for anyone. Zeke for prez.
I think New York was like, “Hey, you’ve got a chubby big and a lanky big (Z-Bo and Aldridge), and WE’VE got a chubby big and a lanky big (Curry and Chandler), so why don’t we just consolidate? Our lanky for your chubby, eh? Oh, and take this guy too…he’s a ‘Franchise’ player.”

Zach’s cleaned up his act in past few months from what I’ve heard/read. Still, I don’t know why you’d want him and Curry. Try to outpost the rest of the smallish East maybe.
Another trade went down; J-Rich to Charlotte for their 8th pick, Wright from UNC. Thats a pretty good move for Charlotte, they had plenty of youth already. Hell, they might even make the playoffs. Assuming of course they can out (eat) score the Knicks.
