The Mike Bibby to the Cavs rumors aren’t dying just yet, but instead of feeding those rumors even more, I’m going to talk about a player the Cavs could actually get….Dajuan Wagner. Oh yeah, he’s available….again. Now, don’t go running to call up Danny Ferry, I’m sure he’s aware of it, but Dajuan is making another attempt at a career in the NBA.
Now, he is once again starring in local summer leagues, including the Rankin-Anderson League at Drexel, where he dropped 50 in a recent game.
On a recent Thursday night, Wagner looked good in another victory for his team. He scored 31 points, hitting 13 of his 21 shots, and dished out nine assists on a team, which includes his former Camden High and University of Memphis teammate Arthur Barclay.
Wagner, who is also playing in leagues in Media, Pa., and Voorhees, had a thunderous baseline dunk that drew oohs and ahhs from the crowd, and also used a crossover dribble to slice his way to the basket for easy layups multiple times.
That’s right, he’s playing in a Rankin-Anderson Summer League. I haven’t been able to find the latest rankings, but I believe it to be about 14 notches below the Las Vegas Summer League.
As you all remember Wagner was drafted with the sixth pick of the 2002 NBA Draft by the Cavs and because of injuries and lack of production, he never could stay in the NBA. He signed a contract with the Golden State Warriors before last season, but had the contract bought out so he could…..I don’t know what he did. Probably sat around game planning for the first game of the Rankin-Anderson Summer League.
Ah, unfulfilled promise….such a sad thing to see. Just think though, if Wagner stayed with the Cavs they wouldn’t have a need for Boobie Gibson.

I think I too would release my Dajuan for a Boobie.
(50 Cent - Sterroids) x basketball = dajuan wagner
at least, that’s what i think when i look at that photo.
“that drew oohs and ahhs from the crowd,”
From dictionary.com
Crowd
1. a large number of persons gathered closely together; throng: a crowd of angry people.
2. any large number of persons.
Dajuan makes me rememeber how inept G.M. Paxson was. First, taking Wagner with the #6 pick. Then letting second round pick Boozer walk after two seasons. But Paxson was indirectly responsible for the Cavs getting LeBron. Go Tribe& Brownies.
Crowd rhymes with spout…
