Clyde Drexler is showing the dresser

If you weren’t aware, the NBA All-Star Game is in New Orleans next year.

Normally that’d be all there is to say about that, except today…today is different. You see, lasterday the 2008 New Orleans All-Star Game logo was unveiled, and Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler, who grew up in the city and loves being in pictures, was there to help do it.

As you can see, he did an excellent job. His hand placement and gesturing are perfect – it’s as if he’s saying, “here is the new logo”, which is exactly what they were looking for. As a bonus, he also spoke about the city.

“Any time I’m here it’s like home,” Drexler said.

He said the NBA’s decision to bring the All-Star Game to New Orleans is “extremely important, one, from an economic standpoint, and two, to show that the city is recovering and that people are investing time and energy into events in the city. That’s huge. This city is known for tourism, so you want everyone to come back, [and I don't even know how that happened. That's also why I looked in the camera, which rhymes with dresser.]“

We could go on and on about why the All-Star Game is going to be a disaster next season (think “we must one-up the shenanigans of Vegas”), but we’d rather talk about the Transformers movie. Spoilers follow – you’ve been warned.

There’s a point near the end where Sam, played by “I had one hit movie and now everyone is dubbing me a superstar” Shai LeBouf, has the Old-Spice Cube, which is like the thing the Autobots are trying to get. So Sam is like their friend, and again, he has it.

Now, instead of saying, “hey, let’s have Sam give it to us,” instead the Autobots are like, “hey Sam – run across the city on foot, climb to the roof of a building, and give the Old-Spice Cube to your government, who have been trying to kill us the entire movie. We’ll cover you, even though there’s a 100% chance you’ll die no matter what we do.”

You may think this is the point we were trying to make, but it’s not. See, during Sam’s run to certain death, Optimus Prime out of nowhere just starts going, “Sam…put the cube in my chest.” Keep in mind Sam has no idea why he would do this or anything, and Optimus Prime just keeps saying it in this total robotic tone. (NOTE: He’s a robot.)

Anyway, that’s how we came to start laughing in the middle of the movie, and also adopted our new favorite line of movie dialog. And yes, “chest” does rhyme with “dresser”.

We’re gonna go ahead and repost the R Kelly commentary vid below. We think our new favorite part may actually be at the :07 mark, where he takes a second just to look back at the camera – he’s just making sure you’re all still there watching.

We’re seriously considering picking up this whole thing – there has to be more gold in them thar hills, as they say.

Stephon Marbury wants to play in Italy? Can someone with an Insider account clarify this?

Which is worse? The way Mike Vick treats dogs or the way Kwame treats Cake?

How can you forget the unintentional hilarity of the mourning of Jazz? Optimus holds him for a second states, “Poor Jazz” and then tosses Jazz’s broken body to the side and launches into five minutes of dialogue about Autobots living amoung humans and such.
