Darko Milicic is a Memphis Grizzley

by The Cavalier on July 12, 2007 · 5 comments

Excuse us for our lack of posts today, but…wait, we never post anymore. Forget we apologized for that.

Anyway, Darko signed a three year deal with Memphis, and that means good things for Cavaliers fans. Mainly, Andersen Varejao is gonna be cornered into accepting a Drew Gooden-esque, favorable to Cleveland deal.

Nobody can offer him anything substantial at this point, and anyone who goes for the MLE with him is gonna find it swiftly (and happily) matched by the Cavs.

As for Darko, his agent couldn’t help but throw a few thinly disguised parting shots at the Orlando Magic.

“We are extremely excited for this new opportunity,” Cornstein said. “Darko’s going to a team that really wants him. He’s going to a young team with an exciting bright future much like his own. We’re very excited Darko gets to learn from coach Marc Iavaroni. We believe he’s one of the best big men coaches in the game. And we couldn’t be happier that he has found a new home where he’s appreciated.”

Unfortunately, considering what Adonal Foyle and Erick Dampier make, $7M per is pretty reasonable for Darko. It’s all pretty skewed, but what matters is what happens on the court.

By our estimation, Memphis could win anywhere between 25 and 44 games next season. We’re leaning toward 25, but aren’t ruling out the 44. Likely scenario is that it falls somewhere beneath that at 14, however.

THAT SAID, if everything goes right, this team could win as many as 47 games.

If this all seems a little scattered, it’s for one simple reason – in all likelyhood, we’ll never write about the Memphis Grizzlies again on this site, and we’re making sure our bases are covered. Moving on…

A friend showed us this awhile ago, and it’s one of the funnier things we’ve seen in awhile. Make sure you watch the whole thing.

We’ve tried it like fifty times, but there’s just no way “baretta” rhymes with “dresser”. That might not even be the best thing about this – the whole thing is a disaster. Commentaries are one thing, but why does R Kelly think we want to watch him watch his video? (Which is, all on its own, also hilarious?) And he keeps looking back at us like, “Ooh-ooh, this part’s good, man – watch!”

R.Kelly has been ‘Mike Tyson’ level batshit crazy for about 3 years now. He honestly, with all sincerity, believes that this ridiculous clusterfuck of a video is the singular greatest achievement in the history of music. He really, really believes this deep down in his heart. He’s said this.

Darko is free . . . to continue dissapointing people.

Rashard Lewis = new Allan Houston?

This is a great day for Darko and the Griz. But who is probably having the best day out of this transaction? Darko’s agent! I wrote up on all the NBA agents cashing in at http://www.clutch3.com
Great article!

I can’t express how much I love the fact that R. says, at the end, that he doesn’t know how the words end up rhyming.
