It seems that everyone is taking the NBA Summer Leagues way, way too seriously. It’s like when I steal my girlfriends running shoes. You only need feet to run, relax. Anyways, If J.J. starts shooting well…..he becomes the next Larry Bird, if the foreign dude for the Warriors plays well…he becomes the next Ginobili. If Kevin Durant is missing jumpers….he’s obviously not going to be any good. Those are all wrong. Also, people who are breaking down the Summer League and its statistics are just plain bored. Yes, I know Tyrus Thomas went off for 24 the other night. He was playing against some dude who is going to be working at Dairy Queen soon, it should happen.
You have to take what happens in the Summer League with a grain of salt (or sugar). There are some guys there playing for their lives, there are some guys there just trying to get into a ‘flow’.

For example, for the past few months Durant has been partaking in personal workouts and workouts for NBA teams. I doubt he’s had too much time to get a run in at his local court. He’s too busy working on his individual skill set. So, he goes out to Vegas and starts getting some run, but he’s rusty. That’s to be expected. It takes time to get ‘in the flow’. True, there are some dudes who can just go out and shoot it (Sam I Am), but for the most part, players play better when they are more comfortable.
Durant, Oden, and it seems Yi; will be just fine once the real NBA Season comes around. Everyone just needs to relax. At least, until WSM? comes out. Then the flurry of nervous excitement should begin.

if he could bench press 185 lbs, those jumpers would be falling.

Agreed. When I workout before going to shoot I always try to do a few sets with at least 195 to get going.
