I’m Telling You….Team USA Will Not Win Gold in the 2008 Olympics!!

By now I know that I’m the only fool saying that Team USA is not on its way to winning the Gold in the 2008 Olympics. Everyone from Chris Sheridan, to George W. Bush, to WSM? star actress _______ is saying that Team USA is a shoo-in for a return to glory. Let me say this again…..as presently constituted….Team USA will not win the Gold Medal in the 2008 Olympics.
Just last night Team USA played one of its bigger rivals and beat them by 15 points (although being outscored in the second half). Great, good for them. The other team didn’t even have half the team its going to use in the Olympics. Congrats though, you beat them by 15. Let me break it down for you just a little bit more. First of all, Argentina is the first ‘real’ opponent Team USA has played. Sorry to the rest of the competition, but there are mostly ankle biters in the tourney. Second, in playing their first ‘real’ opponent, Team USA’s out of this world ballhanding and passing skills led to a whopping 21 turnovers, while only having 17 assists. Third, and I’ve been harping on this all tournament long….too many 3pt attempts. Team USA took 56 shots total, 29 of those were from downtown. That’s horrendous. Teams are just going to sag and continue to let them shoot or…..*gasp* there will come a point where they actually play a team that can defend both the inside and the outside….at this point Team USA will be screwed. Fourth, Jesus H. Christ Team, USA was outrebounded 38-28. Come on, that’s mostly effort fellas. That’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m ranting by now….Fifth, I have two quotes from you. First from Team USA PG Jason Kidd:
“I think the biggest compliment I saw yesterday was that this team was compared to the ‘92 team,” Jason Kidd said Wednesday. “And if you look back at all the other Dream Teams, that’s never happened. And that’s the biggest compliment that [we] can take because that was the best team ever assembled. So when you start seeing that, that means that we’re doing something right.”
Sorry, but I think just about every team after the Dream Team was compared to them. That’s what the problem with USA Basketball has been! Please stop comparing this team to the Dream Team. Dream Team 128 - Team USA 86. The next quote is from Argentina’s own Luis Scola:
The team we played in Japan was a pretty good team, but I think in this kind of tournament, the style of the game is better for Team America because everyone tries to play their way — fast, one-on-one, running up and down, scoring many points each game — and that’s good for the U.S. team because they like to play that way,” Scola said. “They have so much talent and so much athleticism. When we play in Europe, the Olympics or the World Championship, it’s a little bit different because European teams play calm 60- or 70-point games, and I think they feel a little bit more uncomfortable with that game.
What’s that? Someone being honest about what Team USA is? That sounds like the same assessment that has been given of Team USA after they lose in tournament after tournament. Too much one-on-one play, too much running, not enough fundamental play…..I’m glad someone finally said it besides me.
I want Team USA to win more than anyone but I’m not going to sit here and say everything is fine when it’s not. I’ve watched the games and their defense is going to be exploited by better teams in the Olympics and their offense very well could be shut down without some sort of interior presence….that’s just how it is. Beat all the teams you want by 50 in this rinky dink tournament but come Olympic time….if Team USA doesn’t shape up….they will lose.

So Eva Longoria is not the leading lady for WSM? as she of course, would say La Francois would win the Gold.
Other disqualified leading ladies include: Dirk Nowitzki’s mom and all of Yi’s Chinese-Milwaukee harem.
Honestly though, wouldn’t Jack Cobra and Bill Walton make a great analyst team? It would be the most non-linear, abstract, long-winded, beloved team of associated people who follow a sport in the history of man and womankind.
I promise you that Walton and I wouldn’t make through the first half unless we were both high.
