Sasha Pavlovic is not hosting SNL

We’re about to dive side-first into the NBA preseason. As it usually doesn’t, it’s snuck up on us this year.

And lest you think we’re the only NBA blogger of note to feel a sense of discontent with this whole deal, Shoals over at FreeDarko is having his moment of discontent, as well. Nobody wants to be Al Pacino, okay? It’s why Clint Eastwood became a director.

Anyway…

As you well know, LeBron James is hosting Saturday Night Live tonight – we expect great things, despite the assumed poor writing and the overbearing feeling of “Sasha ain’t coming to training camp“.

Marc Cornstein, [Sasha] Pavlovic’s agent, said Friday that Pavlovic is planning on letting the [one-year qualifying] offer expire Monday. Pavlovic is in Europe with no plans to travel to Cleveland this weekend.

”It really isn’t a holdout. If he doesn’t have a contract, he’s not allowed to come to practice,” Cornstein said. ”Ultimately, it is Sasha’s decision, and he is aware of all the circumstances. ‘This is not the position we were looking to be in,” Cornstein said. ”But we have a very different opinion of Sasha’s value.”

We’re not too worried about this – the Cavaliers are close to signing Devin Brown, Sasha has ZERO options/allowances to play anywhere else in the world, and if he sits out the year, that’ll be 135 less offensive fouls for CLE.

Rest up now, it all starts Monday. A few teams (Celtics/T-Wolves/Magic/Someone Else) already had their media days, as they’re travelling overseas for camp.

Boston’s was obviously the most prominent, all the moreso since Gilbert Arenas has predicted the Wizards will win Boston’s home opener on October whatever-the-date-is.

Enjoy the weekend, but be careful, safe, warm and friendly, as well as brave and kind.

Oh, one final note – to Chris Webber. Don’t go to Greece. Also don’t bandwagon some poor team halfway through the season. Either play a full season with an NBA team or retire. Please.

Yes, the white around the 3 is significantly whiter than the rest of the jersey.

Very sloppy. Verrrrry sloppy.

Any good artist finds times of diminished productivity and creativity, after which they must reinvent themselves. The problem is, their built-in audience constrains their creativity and forces them to remain in similar ruts, for fear of losing that community appreciation they have come to know and love. Thus, the blog grows stagnant (although often it takes a while for most fans to realize this), and dies a slow death over time. See: Bill Simmons and every blog I liked at the start of this year. Sigh.

And I saw this coming over a year ago. My attempt to fight it has taken too long to overcome the death of the blog, and thus “rebirth” shall replace “reinvent” in your scenario.

Yup, exactly. I personally also think that one has lots of perspectives and ideas when one starts blogging…and then we get dumber over time, because our perspective narrows. Something I forgot to toss into above comment.

So when you mention re-birth…should we look out for “naysports.com” where you do nothing but post about beanie babies and extreme ironing until you figure out what your next project is? Just kidding. :-) I know, WSM? is the end of the beginning (or the beginning of the end), depending on how you look at things.

Oh, sorry, I shouldn’t say dumber; I didn’t mean to sound hateful. Apologies. I should say, less varied, less creative.

What if I don’t have an audience? Can I possibly be constrained?

And what if I purposefully neglect my audience? Could I be constrained if I don’t care about them?
