For us, today’s NBA focus is not on the pending preseason, but inside of various American courtrooms, where the Knicks and Sonics are tackling issues related to sexual harassment and rootin-tootin, relocating ownership groups.

We’ve covered Isiah and the Knicks situation not nearly enough, but a quick read of ESPN’s Chris Sheridan will get you up to speed. A turn on the stand by Knicks owner James Dolan today may very well be the most revealing slice of ownership ineptitude in recent NBA history.

(On the opposite end of the spectrum, Mark Cuban…tonight…he dances…with the STARS.*)

Anyway, since the Knicks are what they are, we’d rather take a stab at this Seattle situation, where the city is finally pretty much calling out Clay Bennet’s group as the scammers they are.

Their only goal is moving the team to Oklahoma City, and that’s all it’s ever been. (Just as many people predicted from the start.)

“The city, with the help of some fine lawyers, is standing up to a pro sports team,” [Important Seattle person Something] Carr told a news conference. “Too often, pro sports teams have run over local governments.”

The two noted that the Sonics made money at KeyArena until 1999, and Carr suggested it’s the quality of the team, not the quality of the venue, that is the problem. The Sonics made the first round of the playoffs in 2001-02, and the second round in ‘04-05.

“The issues with the Sonics’ profitability at KeyArena have less to do with KeyArena than perhaps with the Sonics’ ability to defend the high pick-and-roll,” Carr said.

That’s some good stuff right there.

If you haven’t kept up, there’s an Indian tribe now offering to DONATE land to build a new arena. Bennet, et al, are not even commenting to any great degree, since that’s like, a deal too good to be true and stuff.

We say take it a step further. Bankrupt the city just to expose these frauds. Offer to build like a three billion dollar building for the Sonics, and put a 18,000 square foot house for Clay Bennett inside of. Also, a huge water slide, free groceries for ten years, a herd of cattle, and a flying Ferrari.

Let’s see you turn that down, cowboy. You love cows, you loser - admit it!

* After seeing the other “stars” Cuban is going against, shouldn’t this show be called Dancing With the People Nobody Has Ever Heard Of? Seriously - you could stick anyone up there and be like “they’re famous”, and people are like, “okay, cool”.

Notice from MR. JORDI SCRUBBINGS to MR. “THE CAV”,

Inspired by the PEOPLE OF SEATTLE, MR. SCRUBBINGS is planning on suing you for the release of the movie “WHO SHOT MAMBA?”. In the opinion of MR. SCRUBBINGS, and the assumed opinion of many of the other frequent readers of YAYSports, you, MR. “THE CAV”, have taken far too long to create and release this film. By suing you, MR. SCRUBBINGS hope to take control of the movie and release it, as he is under the impression that you are not intending to release it, only to use it as a bargaining chip to leverage your readership.

MR. CAV, we ask that you act appropriately. Further failure to act may result in the release of a competive picture. Be warned.
