Okay, so apparently the internet will explode if we don’t comment on LeBron wearing the infamous ballcap and openly rooting for the New York City Yankees while attending the Indians game last night.
(For those of you unfamiliar with everything about this site, LeBron not only plays in Cleveland for the NBA’s Cavaliers, but was also born and raised in nearby Akron.)
Despite this having been a well-known fact for like, years, there’s a whole new wave of Clevelanders having massive heart attacks over LeBron’s New York City Yankee fandom.
LeBron basically says, “Get over it.”
We agree – this is a non-issue. LBJ had his preteen years (when you develop your allegiances) in the early-mid 90s Sportscenter Era, where you could suddenly follow any team you wanted with the almost the same ease you could your hometown team.
He clearly hopped on the Dallas Cowboys bandwagon for football, as well as the Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls All-Squad Team for the NBA.
Why he chose the New York City Yankees for baseball is unknown, since the Indians were actually better than them from like 94-98. Whatever – maybe he didn’t catch on to baseball until after that.
Either way, he’s already said before he just liked their logo and then became a fan of the team after the fact.
Now, was it disrespectful of him to wear the cap to an actual Indians playoff game last night? Not really – it’s not like he’s a jerk about it, and the Tribe DESTROYED the New York City Yankees, anyway.
Again, non-issue…and moreso a wise business/publicity move by LeBron’s team. Move along. There are children starving in Kentucky and parts of Western Tennessee.
NOTE: One thing that does bother us is all the Celtics’ starters shaving their heads together. We don’t know why.
