David Beckham is rich

Real Madrid star and wannabe American David Beckham is the richest soccer player in Europe, while his wife is one hot piece of ass. If you don’t agree, then sorry – there’s simply something wrong with you.

Real Madrid star David Beckham is Britain’s richest footballer with a personal fortune of $130 million dollars (111 million euros), according to a report in FourFourTwo magazine.

Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp is a distant second with 55 million euros, followed by Beckham’s former Real Madrid teammate Michael Owen of Newcastle United on 44 million euros, according to the report published on Wednesday.

The list includes all people involved in British football, regardless of nationality, including club owners and managers.

Bergkamp is number two? How is that possible? We know that Beckham is huge, but Bergkamp is easily pretty huge as well. This is The Iceman, after all. We took a quick survey of 10 of our friends, asking a simple question: Bergkamp or Beckham – who do you pick for your team?

All ten answered with some version of “Who? Are you sober?”.

Holiday Countdown Day 5

As promised yesterday to reader John G, we’re devoting the entire day to soccer. We’re very, very, very serious when we say we’ll do almost anything our readers ask of us. That said, be careful what you ask for. Just
ask Dan Shanoff.

A little divergent sports coverage won’t interrupt the Holiday Countdown, however. Coming into the 5th day, there’s a die-hard Minnesota Timberwolves fan named Sonia who’s running away with this thing, determined to win the coveted prizes. She was able to get the A-Rod card that went to Baseball Musings and our personal favorite in the whole series, a little piece we call “Michael Vick Steals a Present From Santa, Then Blows Up the Sleigh and Leaps Away,” which landed at Defamer.
